The house at 1170 Josephine is part of Denver history. It was designed by famous Denver architects William Lang and Marshall Pugh, who were responsible for many of Denverâs illustrious homes, including the Molly Brown House (1340 Pennsylvania), the Castle Marne (1572 Race) Langâs recognizable eclectic style shows his preference for rusticated stone, turrets, arches, and a grandness of scale. Lang planned for this house to be the cornerstone of what he would call the âœCapitol Heightsâ neighborhood. Construction on 1170 Josephine began in 1892, but Langâs was not to be, and 1170 Josephine was not completed at that time. The Panic of 1893 crushed the boom that was happening in Denver, including (see the full history of this home by setting a showing and reading the brochure left out for this home's next owner).
