About Downtown Denver's Uptown district

Also known as Upper Downtown, Denver's Uptown district is located directly east of central Downtown Denver, and offers the personality of a downtown district, with several housing options, and even more businesses.

Uptown is popular for its vast variety of Denver restaurants, boutique shops and a few spas. Uptown is a convenient district for residents, as residential living units and shops often sit next to one another.

Uptown is also known for its Downtown Denver hospitals, which include The Children's Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, St. Joseph's and Presbyterian/St. Luke's. These four Denver hospitals employ nearly 10,000 people, and local buildings in the area also host several additional doctor's offices, hospital supply business, and other related businesses. In addition, local Uptown coffee shops, restaurants, and other business prosper from the hospital employees and traffic.

Uptown is bordered by Colfax Avenue on its west side, Welton Street to its north, Grant Street to its south, and 20th Street to its east. Other buildings and businesses in Uptown include Republic Plaza, which, at 56 stories, is Denver's tallest building, the Brown Palace Hotel, and the 52-story Wells Fargo building.

Uptown is also home to the Denver Pavilions, a retail and entertainment complex along the 16th Street Mall, as well as government and office buildings, and Denver residential developments.
